Lead Us Not into Temptation....

Hi All,

I've been enjoying all of the postings and comments.  I have been on the road for the past few days.  I have not been able to check into MUA for more than a few minutes.  Also, my access to my email was really limited--I deleted all of the email from advertisers (Lancome, MAC, Shu, you know!) without reading it.

I noticed a HUGE drop in any desire to think about buying makeup.  All of you who recommend staying away from temptation are so right!  Out of sight, out of mind.  Even though I bought some magazines with some new makeup releases in them, for some reason I didn't find them tempting.

Anyway, you may want to try it out.  In the meantime, I've gotten a lot of other reading done with the time saved.  I'm feeling very productive and very much in control.  Thanks for all of your advice!

  1. I really think its a madness to be on the boards because its all based on 'what did you just get' mentality.

And then its 'OMG I need to get this..."

Makes it difficult to not get pulled in. If there are 20 girls that 'need' something within an hrs time, we think we 'need' it too. I avoided the MU board almost all together and only posted on FOTD while I got myself under control.

I can now post there and read the threads on MU board and not feel the necessity to BUY something. Glad you are getting back to a different kind of normal.

  2. I can read on the MU board and not get the "I gotta get that" Sure I may add things to my wishlist but I do remove other things for it as well.

I have been asking questions on there on how to use the items I already have. I have so much I have no idea how to use some items at all.

I don't care what brand items are and I don't own any Dior, Chanel or YSL. I am learning now that I have so many of simular colours looking for a particular shade that I can swap them and not miss them at all. For example, my staple e/s is EL's Smokey (my wash staples are 3 EL shades as well) and I spent a lot of money and time buying and swapping for simular colours to go back and keep using that shade. Even for the wash shades I did the same thing.

What a waste and I don't have a lot of money to waste either.

  3. Good for you! :D

I definitely need to stay off the boards as much as possible. I've been trying to swap more... but I don't have very much to swap as it is and sometimes I get so dejected trying to match up swap/wishlists that I hop over to see what people are talking about. Bad for my wallet and bad for my work ethic though!
