Another book? Yes! After reading some of the posts & emails I decided to plug this book. A few of you might have seen her show or read her books before. Suze Orman is a interesting personality. She definitely advocates tough love & can be seen as a bish at times (I personally ♥ her!).
The book I am recommending is "Women & Money: Owning the Power to Control your Destiny" by Suze Orman. Many women, myself included, can be utterly successful women in our chosen field yet suck at finances for ourselves. While we might have a DBF, DH to do it for us, we really NEED to know how to do this for yourselves! You never know what might happen in the future where you might be in a position that you would have to be the one doing the finances.
This book has a to do format. Suze advocates you doing the list at the end of each chapter before moving on to read the next chapter.
You can get this at Amazon for $9.98 right now. Another alternative is to check out this place. www.paperbackswap.com. It's a website for swapping books. I currently added this book to my WL so I can get extras to send to some of you who can't afford this but would want to read this.
I urge you please to perhaps go to your local library to borrow this book. I hope it'll help you as much as it did for me.
Much love,
Joy (aka Gingitsune)

Thanks so much for the rec! I've been meaning to get more savvy about finances... I was just talking to my mom about this when I was out visiting. She also rec'd Suze Orman. I've been turned off by her personality in the past, but I won't turn my nose up at good advice even if I dislike the source!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't halfway through your post and I pulled up my library's website in another tab to see if they had it. And they do!
@snickers
ReplyDeleteI have another book by her called "The Laws of Money, The Lessons of Life". That's really good too! That book has more specific abt managing money in general, investing, etc. Also a great read if you have the time.
This book I'm recommending is targeted at women specifically. I do think that women as a whole for some weird reason have various issues with handling money. Hopefully this book will help some of us realize that & work on it.
Yeah for public libraries!!! :D $$ saved in not buying the book! :D
I just checked my library, too, and they also have it! Will pick it up in the next couple of days. Thanks for the recommendation!
