Officially disturbed

Ladies, it is official: I am disturbed. This low-buy thing was personally initiated by my recent and sudden status as an unemployed person. Now that I have all this time on my hands I'm just biding it doing stupid stuff. Today, someone on the MU board mentioned that she had tallied all of her purchases for this year, and presented that figure. I thought it would be a good (or just fiscally prudent) idea to give it a go myself. So I plopped my giant Plano Tacklebox in front of computer and I, and went to work.

I expected something like $600-$650... a lot but not eye-popping. I input all 55 items (excluding skin and haircare) into the spreadsheet and hit 'sum'...

$1,068.58. ONE THOUSAND SIXTY EIGHT DOLLARS FIFTY-EIGHT CENTS. Shit.

This whole low-buy thing has taken on new meaning. No more $40 e/s singles for moi. Please forgive me, starving children of Africa.

(p.s. I never thought being unemployed would be so boring. Too much time, not enough complaining about not having enough time.)

  3. Sry for the shock... but did that include TAX???

I am super curious how much all my stash is worth brand new...

  4. No, that doesn't include tax! Although, a couple of those items (maybe 5) were 20% off from when I worked at Macy's. That maybe amounts to $20 though. :/ When Mr. Boyfriend comes home tonight and asks about my day, I will be omitting this venture from the rundown.

  6. Well Kenoki, if it makes you feel any better.....you're not alone. & no I am not posting my MU purchases this year (to date) here. I think it'll totally freak pple out. I know I was like, "OMG!" when I totaled it up.

I'm in the same boat! I need to find a job so I can haul! I'm tired of not being to buy what I want due to limited finances.

  7. I saw your post and I am totally totally scared to tally up my purchases... but I thought about it and I totally agree with you - it really puts a new meaning to "low-buy" for me.

  8. I wouldn't do that. I had few months where I spend over 500 (not every month), so it will be more. To be honest, I don't mind how much I spend until now, and I don't want to stop buying fully. I work hard and can afford to spend some - I just don't want to buying for the sake of it! I want to use what I buy!

  9. actualy, I did some calculations. Definetly over 2000 :(. that's allot of cash!

  10. However, my personal opinion is that if you can afford it. Why not? However, I think that totaling your MU spending from month to month helps you monitor your spending & helps you to stay on track on your no buy/low buy. I know mine did! :D

  11. Yes, when I think of it like this is about 50 euro a week, which is not bad! I even bring my own lunch in work, and have very modest lifestyle, and good enought career.
plus - I was building a base, I wouldn't be spending that much anymore. So I will start totaling and limiting the stuff I buy, as I hate waste of products, and will put upper limit but I don't feel as bad now.
