It's Aly here (alyheartsyou). Since I have a blogger profile I don't think it'll let me post as anything but GlossMenagerieDotCom haha...oh well. Just know that it's me. ;)
I haul when I'm bored. Which unfortunately is all the time since I have a really. boring. job. Hauling gives me something to do, and when it's online, something to look forward to being delivered.
Any tips for kicking that habit?
Oh, and I confess...I bought something today. But it was a usb cable for my camera lol...I can make YT videos with it woohoo.
oh no! Are you joining the dark side of YOUTUBE?
ReplyDeleteplease lemme know when you do. HAHAHA
Hi Aly! <3 your blog. =)
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I used to have the same problem (Etsy was KILLER for me hahaha...) and I dunno. I started deleting my saved CC info from all the sites I shop at so I'd have to physically take out my credit card and type in the numbers so that would force me to evaluate my spending before hitting submit. Also, I guess once I realized that I was mostly buying stuff just so I could receive mail, that took a whole lot out of my will to buy things. Since I do still love getting mail, I tried to start swapping more, sending out RAOKs to blogger friends more, and getting back into writing letters to old friends like I used to. It's helped some. I also flat out decided to buy local as much as humanly possible since those shipping trucks do cause a lot of pollution that can easily be avoided (esp since I don't have a car and therefore bus/walk everywhere) and I think that's actually helped the most hahaha. So, some food for thought I guess. HTH =)
I can't wait to see one of your youtube vids! :D
ReplyDeleteAs for the hauling, we all haul for different reasons but the first step is recognizing you have a problem :D
What I've been doing is building up a list of anything and everything I like on sephora.com usually or NARS or whatever your weakness is. Then I try to cut it down to something reasonable, about $50 or less. Okay, I'm getting to the part where you don't spend the money lol. THEN I move it all to a wishlist, either for that site or for MUA & simply delete it from the cart. I'm not sure if it will work for you, but it really helps me! I simply have to give in to the temptation & by putting it in an online cart and moving it to a w/l or wherever, enough time has gone by that I don't need to purchase that second. I also think about how many similar to that product I have, how that's x amount of dollars more than what I have, and so on. If you don't trust yourself that much, maybe block the websites?
ReplyDeleteWOW these are great ideas. I can totally see how moving your items to a list and then going back say a wk or 2wks later ~ if you still NEED it then go for it.
ReplyDeleteBut I bet lots of it is from the hype of MUA. Like I ordered all the NYX loose e/s because I couldnt afford MAC pigments. BUT I used them 3x and then gave them all away to my BF's daughter.
I always caught onto the MMU e/s urges too ~ but ended up giving them all away as extras in swaps. Never even tried them because I dont like mmu e/s. LOL
My ideal situation is to have one 15 palette for each color family (5 lights colors, 5 medium, 5 dark ~ one matte for each):
1. highlights/peaches/golds
2. neutrals
3. blues
4. greens
5. pinks/red
6. purples
Havent decided if the Grays & Blks need their own home yet. They now live with the blues. LOL
SO as I delete one e/s from a palette then I can add a new one.
How random, I keep my blues with my greys and blacks too.
ReplyDeleteHehe I totally empathize with the MUA hype. I am refusing to stumble to the NYX craze :P
ReplyDeleteNothing against DS stuff but I ended up getting alot of DS stuff after joining MUA & frankly most of them are meh on me :( Or maybe like.....but no loves there yet. :(
